Holztrift / Wood drift

Die Holztrift Anlage in der "Erlebniswelt Mendlingtal" bei Hochkar im Lassing, Niederösterreich ist die letzte funktionierte im Mitteleuropa. Die Anlage im Mendlingtal war vermutlich seit dem 15 Jahrhundert bis ihrer Zerstörung im Jahr 1992 durchgehend im Betrieb und ist im Jahr 1998 zum Teil wieder aufgebaut worden. Holztrift diente neben der Flösserei zu der Holzeinbringung durch die Schwemme aus dem Gebirge. Dabei wurde das Holz einzeln, nicht als Floss transportiert.

The wood drift facility in the “Mendlingtal Adventure World” near Hochkar im Lassing, Lower Austria is the last one in operation in Central Europe. The facility in Mendlingtal was probably in continuous operation from the 15th century until its destruction in 1992 and was partially rebuilt in 1998. In addition to rafting, wood drift was used to bring in wood through the flood from the mountains. The wood was transported individually, not as a raft.
